Starve Acre is a 2023 British horror film directed and written by Daniel Kokotajlo, based on Andrew Michael Hurley's novel. The story follows an archaeologist, Richard (played by Matt Smith), and his wife, Jules (Morfydd Clark), whose lives spiral into chaos when their son begins to exhibit strange behavior, leading them to confront dark forces tied to an ancient oak tree on their property. The film premiered at the BFI London Film Festival on October 12, 2023, and will be released in theaters and on-demand on July 26, 2024.
