Stress Positions is a 2024 American comedy drama film directed by Theda Hammel in her feature directorial debut. The film stars John Early, Hammel, Qaher Harhash, Amy Zimmer, and Faheem Ali.
Set during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brooklyn, the film follows Terry Goon (John Early), who is quarantining with his nephew Bahlul (Qaher Harhash), a 19-year-old Moroccan model recovering from a broken leg. As Terry tries to protect them from the outside world, his best friend Karla (Theda Hammel) and others become curious about Bahlul.
The film premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival on January 18, 2024 and was released in theaters on April 19, 2024[2]. It received generally positive reviews, with critics praising the sharp satire and performances, particularly from John Early and Qaher Harhass. However, some felt the film's chaotic tone and overloaded plot threads became repetitive by the second half.
